- Register for MTN Mobile Banking: All banks require that you be registered before you can use this service. Please consult your respective banking institution on the correct procedure to be followed. Additionally, some banks also require that you register or activate the service on your cellphone.
- Download your MTN Mobile Banking menu/settings: It is a simple procedure to download your Mobile Banking WAP settings or WIG menu. Click on the name of your banking institution above to manually set up your cellphone.

MobileBanking can be used in any of these two ways:
Option One – WIG (Available only to MTN contract subscribers).
Wireless Internet Gateway (WIG): This is an application that is stored on your 32K SIM card or USIM that provides additional menu options (called the MTN Menu). It works similarly to being connected to the internet with the exception that information is transmitted vian SMS. Currently, Standard Bank and ABSA can provide this service.
Requirements: A compatible handset and a 32K SIM card or USIM. Contact your Service Provider for more information.
You can choose to manually download your MobileBanking menu to your 32K SIM card or USIM through your cellphone. You also need to ensure that you have a good signal, and that your SMS inbox is not full.
Then follow these easy procedures:
- Scroll through your phone's main menu options until the MTN Menu appears on the screen of your cellphone. Press OK to select this menu.
- As a first time user you will see the following menu options:

- Highlight Banking and press OK.
- The screen will prompt, You have selected to download Banking, are you sure? You must select OK. an SMS will be sent.
- From the list of banks displayed on the screen, select your respective bank and click OK. an SMS will be sent.
- You’ll shortly receive an SMS stating, (Your bank) download scheduled for (your cellphone number). Please do not access the MTN Menu until a “download complete” SMS is received. Please DO NOT access the MTN Menu until you’ve received a confirmation SMS.
- A second SMS will appear in your inbox stating, (Your bank) download complete. Have a nice day. Switch your phone off and back on again.

Now you can enjoy the benefits of MTN MobileBanking.
The MobileBanking application will alter your handset menu. Your bank’s option can be found in the mini browser menu. Options available include:

| Option Two - WAP (Available to all MTN customers).
Wireless Application Protocol (WAP): This allows you to connect to the internet from your cellphone. You’re able to connect to websites (commonly known as wapsites) especially designed to be accessible on your cellphone. Currently Standard Bank and Nedbank are capable of providing this service.
Requirements: A WAP-enabled cellphone and a SIM card or USIM that is enabled for data services. Contact your Service Provider for more information on whether your data services are enabled.
Standard Bank WAP Settings Select each of the following service settings one by one and key in all the required setting specified below (please take note of upper and lower case). Once each setting is entered select OK and move to the next setting.

NEDBANK Cellphone Banking (WAP and SMS)
Everyday banking doesn’t get easier than this. Nedbank Cellphone Banking is a state-of-the-art banking service that lets you manage your finances and accounts securely, cost-effectively and conveniently. It allows you do your day-to-day banking ANYTIME, ANYWHERE and now from ANY CELLPHONE using WAP and SMS banking.
NEDBANK HAS TWO SOLUTIONS TO SUIT YOUR NEEDS
The first Nedbank Cellphone Banking option uses WAP 2.0 technology, which gives you the ability to manage your finances and accounts using a cellphone to access a browser-based banking solution. This is very similar to having Internet Banking on your phone. To use this option you will need to have a cellphone with WAP 2.0 capabilities. The second Nedbank Cellphone banking solution uses SMS technology, and allows you access to all your Nedbank accounts and conduct day-to-day banking using almost any cellphone that has SMS capabilities.
For Nedbank Cellphone Banking (WAP)
Ensure your handset is WAP 2.0 capable and GPRS/EDGE or 3G enabled. Most new cellphones are WAP 2.0 capable and many do not require any additional settings to access Nedbank Cellphone banking (WAP). However some phones may require certain settings to be changed and these will be specific to the kind of handset you have.
Enabling WAP settings on your Mobile
Should your handset not have the required WAP settings, you can request the settings by following these easy steps:
Enter *123*13# and press the ‘call’ button. MTN WAP settings will be SMS’d to your handset, should you be prompted for a code enter 1234.
To access Nedbank WAP Cellphone Banking: Go to MTNLoaded’s portal, access the banking mall and select the Nedbank Cellphone Banking link OR
Add a new bookmark on your handset by doing the following: Access your handset’s main menu Select the web access option (Earth/Globe Icon or Services) Select the Bookmark -New Bookmark/Favourites option Enter https://www.nedbankmobile.co.za to access Nedbank Cellphone Banking.
Save these settings to your cellphone. Now ‘launch’ the bookmark/favourite For Nedbank Cellphone Banking (SMS) Simply dial *120 *001#, and follow the prompts.
