MTN Service Provider's Bill Limit Facility allows you, as a contract customer, to manage and track the expenditure on your cellphone account. A "Bill Limit" is the threshold limit that you set for your unbilled calls, unbilled charges, outstanding balance, or a combination of all three.
This means, that should you choose to make use of the Bill Limit Service, you will be notified when a pre-determined limit has been reached on your monthly account.
You will need to do the following:
- First set a Bill Limit (Rand amount) on your own 1) Unbilled Calls Only OR 2) Unbilled Calls & Charges OR if you require a limit for ALL subscribers on your account, as opposed to the individual subscriber, then you can set a limit on 3) Unbilled Calls & Charges & Outstanding balance.
- You will then select thresholds of your Bill Limit at which you require MTN SP to automatically notify you and/or take specific actions; the threshold can be a Rand value or a Percentage of your Bill Limit.
- Should you choose the Rand value option, all you need to do is set various values for which you would like a notification.
- The percentage service has the following available thresholds, those being 50%, 75% and 95% or 100% of your Bill Limit.
- Should you reach your set limits, you can request MTN SP to automatically notify you via an SMS and/or Voicemail.
- Further, you can also specify particular actions to take place at the thresholds. This can be either barring of out-going calls or temporary deactivation of your account, your choice entirely.
Please note that your Bill Limit Value cannot exceed your Credit Limit as determined by MTN SP; your Customer Services Rep will advise you of your Credit Limit should you select a Bill Limit that exceeds this value.
To request the activation of a Bill Limit, either:
- contact the MTN SP Call Centre on 808 from your cellular phone (toll free) or 083 1 808 from a fixed landline (standard cellular telephone rates will apply)
- visit an MTN SP Service Centre
- or alternatively go into an MTN SP Dealer, Franchise or Retailer
- Corporate customers will be able to activate this service through their Corporate Sales Representative.
Once selected, the Bill Limit Service details will be displayed on your invoice.
Should you reach your set limits, you can request MTN Service Provider to automatically notify you via an SMS and/or Voicemail. Further, you can also specify particular actions to take place at the thresholds. This can be either barring of out-going calls or temporary deactivation of your account, your choice entirely.
There is no activation charge or monthly subscription charge for the Bill Limit facility.
