Emergency

Dial 112 for assistance in any emergency!

112 can be dialled from any cellphone, even without a SIM card or airtime, immediately transferring the call to the closest recognised emergency services department.

This number is the GSM standard for international emergency services as well, which means that in any emergency situation, no matter how small or how big, just dial 112.

The 112 Emergency Call is available to any person on the MTN network, and is available 24 hours a day right through the year. The Medical Rescue International control centre will give you immediate access to ambulance, police and fire rescue services, as well as a poison centre. This service can also connect you with towing and breakdown services.

How do I get it?
Access to this life-saving service is free and available to anyone on the MTN network. PayAsYouGo customers without airtime can also use this facility.

How does it work?
In an emergency, dial 112 from your cellphone and describe your emergency with as much detail as possible, including your location and your cellphone number.

What does it cost?
This service is free to all MTN subscribers.

Important notes:
While the subscription and all calls made to this service are free, the cost of using certain of the emergency services must be covered by the person receiving the attention.
In South Africa, it is a punishable offence both to make hoax calls and to abuse any emergency service.

Save the 112 number to your speed dial to allow for easy dialling in case of an emergency.
