And if you’re the lucky one to be roaming the world, ditch the postcards: share your travels instantly with friends and family back home with an MMS. If you want to keep everyone up-to-date on your plans, hit the ‘Reply to all” option. This way, no-one feels left out or forgotten.
Remembering the important people in your life is particularly useful on special occasions, like Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day or a birthday. Simply download greetings cards by calling *123# and surprise your friends and loved ones with a colourful message, even at the last minute! Not that you have to wait for a calendar date to tell someone you’re thinking of them: make every day an occasion with our MTN Greeting cards.
The *123# menu also offers M-zines – magazines via MMS. We currently have three topics: Health, For the Guys, and For the Girls. These are updated weekly and are choc-a-bloc with great stuff.
You can send an MMS to any local network or email address, as well as to multiple receivers, at R0.90 per message recipient. MMS messages are limited to 300kb.
The cost applies to both cellphone and website MMS messages.
International MMS enables MTN subscribers to send and receive MMS messages to/from more than 600 International destinations around the world.
All MTN customers that are set up and provisioned for MMS shall be able to send and receive MMS messages to/from international destinations. This includes Prepaid, Hybrid and Postpaid customers.
Sending an International MMS is similar to sending a local MMS. The only difference is that the recipient’s phone number must include the international dialling codes as shown below.
- dial the prefix + or 00, for dialing outside of South Africa,
- followed by the destination country’s dialing code,
- then the recipient’s phone number, minus the first zero of that phone number.
From the main Menu on your phone, select “Messaging”, then “MMS” and select “Create New”. Add text, images, audio clips and/or video clips into your MMS message and press “Send”. If you are using a camera phone, you can take a photo and select the option “Send via MMS”, enter the recipient’s phone number (including the international dialling codes) and press “Send”. Also you can browse to stored multimedia files in your phone, select the file you’ll like to send, then select the option “Send via MMS”, enter the recipient’s phone number (including the international dialling codes) and press “Send”.
The standard International MMS rate is R2.50 including VAT for all MTN price plans, and applies to MMS messages sent across all international destinations during peak and off-peak times.
Receiving an MMS is free, including MMS messages received from foreign countries.
International MMS messages are limited to 300KB per message as measured at MTN’s Multimedia Messaging Service Centre (MMSC).
The table below shows all countries and operators that MTN subscribers can send and receive MMS messages to/from. These destinations shall be updated on a regular basis as new Inter-connect Agreements becomes available.
