- If a customer does not initially qualify for 2 lines, no additional SIMS may be given within the first 3 months of application
- If an application has been rejected - for 30 days or more, a new subscriber agreement must be completed with supporting documentation in order to be revetted
- If an application has been pending for 7 - 10 days or more for outstanding documentation, the application will automatically be rejected and a new subscriber agreement must be completed
- No accounts that are in arrears will be eligible for transfer of ownership or additional lines
- No driver's licenses will be accepted as proof of identification
- Should a customer not be a South African citizen, proof of work permit / work visa must be supplied
- Unfortunately, no First National Bank savings accounts will be accepted as a debit order payment account. This needs to be upgraded to a BOB 2000 or a Cheque account in order to accommodate a debit order payment
- Cellphone numbers supplied as home or work contact numbers will not be accepted
- Only citizens within the South African borders may be eligible to apply for a cellphone contract
- A debit order is compulsory for all new consumer applications without exception
- All Small and Medium Enterprises (SME's) who have been registered for 1 year or less will be required to sign a Debit order
- All non-professional entities will be required to sign a debit order.
- All sole traders will be required to sign a debit order
- Confirmation of banking and employment details is mandatory on all new applications
- Under no circumstances will a subscriber agreement form altered with tippex be accepted as a valid application
- If an account is created, under no circumstances may the Price Plan be changed to a Promotional Price Plan
The following documentation is required for all new consumer applications:
- A valid copy of a South African Identity Document
- A passport with proof of South African status (i.e. work permit/ visa) will be required if the applicant is not a South African citizen
- Recent proof of income if earning less than R10 000 a month. (If no salary advise is supplied then 3 recent full months bank statements, reflecting the salary is required)
- Proof of banking details in the form of a cancelled cheque or recent bank statement (if payment by a 3rd party, then a 3rd party addendum and a 3rd party section on the Subscriber Agreement must be completed and signed by the bank account owner)
The following documentation is required for all new business applications:
- A valid copy of the South African Identity Document
- A copy of the business registration papers
- A company letterhead
- Proof of banking details in the form of a cancelled cheque
All applications faxed through to customers will be accompanied by Terms and Conditions found on the reverse side of an original Subscriber Agreement. Read through them carefully prior to signing and faxing the documentation back to MTN Service Provider.
